This two-hour webinar is designed to enable the participants to obtain a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts for traffic signal timing and coordination of signalized intersections. This will include isolated intersections and those that are in a coordinated signal system.
- Understanding of basic timing parameters
- Understanding of isolated or free operation vs. coordinated operation
- Understanding of coordination timing parameters (Cycle, Offset, Split, Sequence)
- Identify the different types of traffic control signals and their operating characteristics
- Learn Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI) and how to successfully implement LPIs to improve pedestrian safety at signalized intersections
Peter J. Yauch, P.E., PTOE, RSP2i serves as a TSM&O Program Manager for Iteris’ Transportation Systems division and came to Iteris from the Albeck Gerken, Inc. acquisition in June of 2019. His responsibilities include project management and technical oversight for a variety of arterial traffic operations and safety projects. Mr. Yauch has over 43 years of experience in traffic operations, ITS, and safety, with a unique mix of public sector (state, county, and municipal) and private sector (design and operations consulting) roles. He leads TSM&O activities, overseeing arterial operations, performance monitoring, and safety related efforts. Mr. Yauch is the author of several papers on TSM&O topics and a frequent presenter at Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) conferences. He is a past member of the International Board of Direction of the Institute and served on the Executive Committee of the Traffic Engineering Council and a multiple term past president of the Florida Puerto Rico District of the Institute. He now serves as District Administrator.
John A. Albeck, P.E., PTOE serves as a Program Manager for Iteris’ Transportation Systems division and came to Iteris from the Albeck Gerken, Inc. acquisition in June of 2019. He has over 27 years of experience working in the fields of traffic engineering, traffic signal timing and optimization, traffic system design, traffic training course development, traffic modeling, traffic software (Synchro, SimTraffic, Warrants) research and development, traffic software technical support, traffic software user guide development, safety investigation, and preliminary roadway design.
