The Florida Automated, Connected, Electric, and Shared (ACES) Transportation Roadmap initiative is a cooperative effort to foster collaboration among the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), public agencies, private sector, and academic institutions within Florida in order to prepare for the wave of technological change in our transportation ecosystem. Through collaboration, proactive communication, sharing of data, development of standards, hardware, software, and lessons learned, Florida will remain at the forefront of ACES development and compete with other states in the U.S. for prominence in these areas.

Instructor Bios:

Raj PonnaluriDr. Raj V. Ponnaluri is the State Connected Vehicles, Arterials and Managed Lanes Engineer at the Florida Department of Transportation. In addition to leading the state’s connected vehicles, arterial management, managed lanes and connected vehicle programs, he assists with the development of the TSM&O initiatives. He holds a BSCE, MS and PhD in transportation engineering and an MBA. He is a registered P.E., PTOE and PMP. He has over 25 years of experience in Traffic Engineering and Operations, ITS, TSM&O, CAV, WWD, public transportation, and projects and contract management. Raj has published his work in several journals.

LinDr. Pei-Sung Lin is Director of the ITS, Traffic Operations and Safety Program at the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) here at USF. He is also the Director of the Florida Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), housed at CUTR. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Florida and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer by the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He has 26 years of work and research experience in transportation, specializing in traffic signal systems, traffic engineering and operations, pedestrian and bicycle safety, wrong-way driving prevention, work zone safety, railroad trespasser fatality mitigation, crash analysis, congestion management, intelligent transportation systems, and automated and connected vehicle research.

Menon, Nikhil Dr. Nikhil Menon is a Research Associate at the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) – University of South Florida. He has over 4 years of work and research experience in transportation specializing in the areas of autonomous vehicles, shared mobility, travel behavior, transportation planning, and network performance. In addition to research, Nikhil also teaches at the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of South Florida.
