Transportation Symposium Webinar Series: 3D-4D Modeling of the Golden Glades Interchange, Roadway and Drainage Showcase

February 23 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

3D-4D Modeling of the Golden Glades Interchange, Roadway and Drainage Showcase

The presentation will include a showcase of the final 3D-4D models of the Golden Glades Interchange Reconstruction project near Miami, Florida, including lessons learned and a description of the Roadway and Drainage modelling processes in OpenRoads Designer.

The Golden Glades Interchange consists of five major facilities (I-95, SR 826/Palmetto Expressway, Florida’s Turnpike, SR-9 and SR7/US 441/NW 7 Avenue). The aim of the project is to dramatically reduce traffic congestion to meet forecasted demands. This will be achieved through a full interchange reconstruction to enhance system connectivity, roadway widening, multimodal use (Park and Ride for rail and bus) and emergency access.

To coordinate the 5 major construction phases with 9 design segments, AECOM produced a 4D model of the interchange showing each major phase of construction and the final design; including bridge structures, S&PM, roadway and drainage. The modelling utilized both OpenRoads Designer and Open Bridge Designer.
