Transplex Web Series – Safe Speeds

The October 2021 Safety Web Series is focused on the elements of the Safe System Approach to eliminating fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways. As we shift our thinking about traditional safety measures to an all-inclusive view of the roadway and the user, we must be proactive and view safety as a shared responsibility.

We invite you to join us every Friday in October for a series of webinars focused on the five elements of the Safe System approach: Safe Vehicles, Safe Road Users, Safe Roads, Safe Speeds, and Post-crash Care. We will hear from a dynamic group of policy and industry professionals leading the way for a comprehensive planning and design approach that creates a safe transportation system for all users.

Each webinar offers 1.5 certification maintenance credits for AICP members and 1.5 Professional Development Hours for Engineers. FDOT employees who register and initiate the webinar through learning Curve will be able to access their certificates in Learning Curve upon completion of the live webinar and confirmation of attendance. Non-FDOT employees will have an opportunity to request a certificate be sent via email after the live webinar.

Safe Speeds
Join as we discuss “Safe Speeds,” one of the five main strategies of the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe System Approach. The Safe Speeds strategy focuses on aspects that encourage context-appropriate travel speeds including roadway design improvements, speed limits, education and enforcement, and technology-based enforcement. Panelists will share new guidance and polices, cutting-edge research projects, and real-world examples illustrating Florida is working to improve driver safety and behavior in all contexts.
