STEP Workshop – Fort Myers

This workshop is designed for any local or state transportation, or public safety professionals involved in making decisions regarding the safety of their road systems. Engineers, Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinators, Managers, Public Works Personnel, Highway Supervisors, Planners, Legal Traffic Authorities (LTAs) and law enforcement personnel are encouraged to attend. This full-day workshop will provide an overview of the pedestrian safety crossing problem, provide resources for addressing the problem, and present the following “Spectacular 7” safety treatments:
• Rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs)
• Leading pedestrian intervals (LPIs)
• Crosswalk visibility enhancements
• Raised crosswalks
• Pedestrian crossing/refuge islands
• Pedestrian hybrid beacons
• Road Diets
This class includes a field exercise that will allow you to put into practice what is learned during the classroom portion of the workshop. Please bring a safety vest and wear comfortable shoes for this portion of the workshop. A measuring wheel is also recommended if available.
This in-classroom workshop is being provided at no-cost and will award 6.0 PDHs upon completion. Space for this workshop is limited, and local agencies are being given first priority!
