Road Safety Audits Part 1 of 3 – Introduction and Procedures

May 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Road Safety Audits (RSA) training is divided into a 3-part webinar series. This session, on May 5th, is Part 1 of the 3-part series. In this session we will look at the formal RSA process and procedures as outlined in the FHWA Road Safety Audit Guidelines. This should give the attendees a good understanding of what an RSA is and how to do it properly.

A Road Safety Audit (or RSA) is defined as a formal safety performance examination of an existing or future road or intersection by an independent, multidisciplinary team. An RSA qualitatively estimates and reports on potential road safety issues and identifies opportunities for improvements in safety for all road users.

This LTAP training series will cover the FHWA Road Safety Audit Guidelines and point you to resources you can access to learn more about RSAs and the benefits of RSAs. Important things you will learn include the formal RSA process, the need for an independent team, why it needs to be multidisciplinary, and what kinds of things are often found when doing an RSA.
