Intersection Safety Part 1 of 3 – Designing & Operating Intersections for Safety
September 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Florida LTAP Center presents this 3-Part Series on Intersection Safety. This is part 1 of the series, and will give a general overview of intersection safety issues. We will examine the various road user groups and their associated needs. We will discuss targeted treatments for each of the various user groups. We will also be discussing intersection countermeasures to improve safety related to different crash types at intersections.
Intersections are locations of planned conflict. Wherever there are conflicts, there exists the potential for crashes. This three-part webinar series will examine different types of intersections and their unique operating characteristics. The workshop will also introduce appropriate safety countermeasures that have proven to be successful at the different intersection types.
Participants will learn about different intersection types – including signalized and unsignalized intersections – and the assortment of issues associated with them. Participants will also learn about the various users that need to be accommodated at an intersection. Most importantly, participants will also learn effective safety countermeasures to be applied at intersections and where to find more information on intersection safety treatments.
