FoRRRwD Countermeasures: Gravel Road Treatments, Rumble Strips and SafetyEdge(SM) and Centerline Buffers

You are invited to a free FHWA EDC-5 webinar on October 20, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 pm ET/10:00am-12:00 pm PT.
Target Audience: State, local, and tribal agencies – come discover what countermeasures can be used to minimize the potential for head-on crashes and options for treatments on unpaved roads.
Presenters and Topics:
- David Veneziano, Iowa LTAP, will discuss low-cost safety strategies and countermeasures used to reduce roadway departure crashes on unpaved and gravel roads.
- Derek Leuer, MnDOT, will share Minnesota’s experience with SafetyEdge and rumble strips, how they can be combined to reduce roadway departure crashes, and working with County’s and local agencies to increase implementation of the countermeasures.
- John R. Speed PE, TxDOT Odessa District Engineer, will provide an overview of their experiences with adding centerline buffers on undivided rural highways; and Srinivas Reddy Geedipally PhD PE, Texas A&M Transportation Institute, will discuss preliminary results from their study of the safety effectiveness of centerline buffers.
