ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Transportation infrastructure and the needs of travelers are not bound by city, county, or even metropolitan planning organization (MPO) borderlines. As megaregions proliferate and expand in the U.S., the necessity for Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO) collaboration among regional planning agencies grows. To confront this task, the eight MPOs that comprise the Central Florida Regional TSMO Working Group requested researchers from the National Institute for Congestion Reduction (NICR) to explore the potential of establishing and sustaining an entity to advance TSMO in the region. This webinar explores the need for TSMO at the regional and megaregional level, highlights organizations at the forefront of regional TSMO collaboration, and provides a framework for regional planners and decision makers to pursue TSMO strategies at a regional and megaregional scale.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Jeff Kramer, AICP, is the program director for Transportation Planning, Policy, and Processes at the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, FL. His research primarily focuses on metropolitan and statewide transportation policy, planning, and processes and has published numerous reports, papers, and articles about various aspects of transportation planning, Mr. Kramer has worked with the Federal Highway Administration, state departments of transportation, MPOs, and statewide associations of MPOs on a variety of issues related to transportation policy and practices and has provided training for hundreds of MPO Governing Board members.

Tia Boyd is a research associate with the TP3 program at CUTR. Her research focuses on transportation decision-making, with an emphasis on multimodal transportation planning, public participation, and the social impacts of transportation. She led several projects developing methods and tools that support transportation planning processes. Tia has contributed to planning and engineering pedagogy with curricula for multimodal transportation planning, a textbook on multimodal transportation planning, and citizens’ academies geared toward community empowerment through education. She also serves in supporting roles for several projects focused on statewide and metropolitan policy, planning, and programming, and strategic and organizational management.

Taylor Dinehart is a research associate with the TP3 program at CUTR. Her research focuses on policy, land use, and technology as it relates to transportation, with an emphasis on accessibility, resiliency, and public health considerations in transportation planning. She has a Master of Regional and Urban Planning from the University of California – LA (UCLA) and a Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida. She has contributed to the development of projects related to corridor planning in the Greater Tampa Bay area and provides research support for projects related to congestion reduction, multi-modal transportation planning, Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO), and best practices for metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) policy and planning.
