FDOT – ADA in Design, Construction, and Maintenance

This course provides a guided walkthrough of the requirements for accessibility for both FDOT State Projects (covered by the FDM) and Local Agency Projects (covered by the FL Greenbook). Course material covers criteria found in the FDM 222 – Pedestrian Facilities, as well as application of accessibility requirements during Temporary Traffic Control (formerly MOT) found in the FDM 240 – Transportation Management Plan and Standard Plans, Index 102-660. References to and discussion of the criteria from the FL Greenbook are included for Local Projects.

Participants will walk away from this class with a better overall understanding of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) considerations in Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects, as well as, Local Agency Projects in Florida; the specific criteria used to integrate safety and accessibility considerations for all users, including individuals with disabilities; and, practical application of accessibility in the field.

With a target audience of Design and Construction professionals, all transportation disciplines, including Planning, Ops, Maintenance, and others, will also benefit from the exposure to the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

1:00pm – 3:00pm – ADA criteria cont.; Lessons Learned Discussion; Accessibility applied in Construction TTC; Q&A

This webinar will award a certificate to those fully attending and completing the webinar. Professional Development Hours will be provided to those that request these during registration. A total of 4.0 PDHs can be earned for fully attending the webinar.
